This time, for the first time, everyone will be able to test the scientific nature of their picture of the world in Russian, English, French and other major world languages.
«Mendeleev Lab» International Science Quest will take place on the 12th of October in 30 different countries.
The event is a part of the bigger celebration: this year is recognised by the General Assembly of the United Nations as the International Year of Periodic Table. The Table represents visually the fundamental Periodic Law introduced by the prominent Russian chemist Dmitry Mendeleev back in 1869.
The date of the 12th of October is not a coincidence either. It is a birthday of the very first chemistry lab founded by Mikhail Lomonosov in Saint-Petersburg Academy of Sciences back in 1748.
«Mendeleev Lab» science quest will be hosted by leading universities, museums and centers for science and culture. The participants will try themselves in the role of «lab assistants» for this day. The quest leaders, «professors» — real academic researchers in the field of chemistry — will challenge them by 39 tasks about chemistry and life, because chemistry is all around! Afterwards, «professors» and
«lab assistants» will discuss the answers together in a friendly and informal atmosphere and get prizes and souvenirs.
